Thermal Transfer Properties

The mean parameters describing the thermal transfer properties of a material are the heat conductivity, the heat capacity and the thermal diffusivity. The heat transport is a result of different mechanisms. Factors of influence are thereby apart from the composition and mineral orientation in the sample also the material density and - porosity as well as the water content and the temperature during the measurement.

With the portable hand-held Isomet 2114 device (Applied Precision Ltd.) and different available needle and surface probes we are able to measure the thermal transfer properties of different materials like clay, sand, building materials and others both in the lab as well as in the field.
